When The Wheel got in touch and told us their plans for a live awards event had been scuppered by lockdown and that they needed to put something virtual together with relatively short notice, we jumped at the chance to help them out.
As a representative body for charities in Ireland, The Wheels work is pivotal to the running of society, and so we were ready to pull out all of the stops whilst at the same time remaining budget-conscious.
The event was to be hosted by comedian Tara Flynn, but the budget and other restrictions dictated that we needed to film Tara’s segments in the Wheels HQ offices in Dublin City Centre. Undeterred the StreamFox team put together a small set within the Wheels boardroom and filmed with Tara the week leading up to the event.
We also had to deal with the issue of acceptance speeches. Whilst we could have easily invited the winners to deliver their acceptance speech live via Hopin, after some deliberation it was decided that it was best to ask each nominee to record a short acceptance speech. This was in order to ensure we wouldn’t run into any connection issues in parts of the country with spotty broadband service.
Once all of the ‘as-live’ segments were captured, we began editing, incorporating insert pieces that different charities and groups across the country had captured themselves.
We then put together a graphics package in keeping with the Wheels brief and pieced the entire show together ready for streaming.
On the night we streamed the event live via the Hopin platform, allowing viewers to watch the pre-recorded show whilst also chatting with The Wheel team, Tara and each other in realtime thoughout.
We were delighted to be involved in this event, and we were delighted to see that all of our planning paid off and the event went off without a hitch.
We are extremely proud of the finished article. More importantly, we’re pretty sure the client are too. Why not contact us to see what we can produce together, live or as-live?
